World Logging Championship 2010
The World Logging Championships (WLC) are held every second year and are essentially an official world championships in chainsaw operation. The first championships were in 1970, arranged jointly by Hungary and the former Yugoslavia. Over the years the competitions have been held in many different European countries. And each time they have grown in terms of participant numbers and media coverage.
Since the 2004 WLC in Turin, the event has been organized by the host country and the International Association Logging Championships (ialc). The ialc was approved by the participant countries at the world championships in Italy in 2004. Most of the countries became members of the organization at that time as well.
The 29th World Championships will take place on 24–26 September 2010. The location is the SRC Jarun park in the central Zagreb, Croatia. Among the competitors there are several previous gold medal winners using Husqvarna chainsaws.
Competitors participate both individually and in three-man national teams, in five disciplines. The individual competition is split into a senior and a junior class. In each event the competitors are assigned points based on speed, precision and safety.
